Civil Defense rescues man dragged by river in La Altagracia

Puente Salto de Jimenoa has not yet been renovated after 4 years of its collapse

SANTO DOMINGO.- A man was rescued alive after being dragged by the waters of the Maimón River, when he tried to cross it on a motorcycle.

Santiago Jiménez, 54, was assisted by Civil Defense personnel from La Altagracia province.

The work of the rescuers was supervised and accompanied by Governor Martina Pepén, who chairs the Prevention, Mitigation and Response Committee (C-PMR) of that province.

The rescue team urges residents in vulnerable areas to be careful and avoid this type of practice.
