Monday April 25
President announces modern Maternal and Child Unit
President Louis Abinader started on Saturday the construction of a modern Maternal and Child Unitl in the Marcelino Vélez Santana Regional Hospital, in Herrera in Santo Domingo Oeste (SDO), a project for which the Government allocated RD$617 million.
Over the weekend, the president carried out a series of activities in the Santo Domingo province, specifically in Herrera, Los Alcarrizos, Pantoja and Pedro Brandwhere he supervised the delivery of thousands of Supérate cards, verified the paving of streets, participated in the Social Inclusion Day “First You” and had lunch with young people and with representatives of neighborhood associations.

PC demands electoral parity in gender; demand to control campaign spending
At the public hearing of the draft Electoral Code Law yesterday, the movement Citizen Participation (PC) endorsed the reform proposal presented by the Central Electoral Board (JCE)for understanding that, if the modifications are approved, a great step forward will be taken in Dominican democracy.
PC General Coordinator, Leidy Whitesaid that the organization considers the JCE proposal to be very positive, but demands that the electoral parity of women be recognized, in the level of a 50-50; the total separation of the levels of choice, remove the summation of votes from one constituency to another, among other aspects.

Government vacates section 9-Alcarrizos Autopista Duarte
The Office for the Reorganization of Transportation (Opret) will invest some RD$3,000 million in the expropriation of homes and businesses in the sectors located in the stretch from the kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway to the entrance of Los Alcarrizos to give way to the extension of the Line 2 of the Santo Domingo Metro and a fringe.
The information was offered by the director of the Office for the Reorganization of Transport (OPRET), Rafael Santos Perezafter pointing out that the work would radically change the main entrance to Santo Domingo from the North region, which is slums with houses, workshops, shops, tarantines and others.

Abinader proposes countries to act together to guarantee agri-food production
The U.S. Embassy celebrated 60 years of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with an act that included the participation of the president Louis Abinader and where the contributions to the country of that entity of $1.9 billion in comprehensive development projects.
The event that took place at the Real Intercontinental hotel was led by the charge d’affaires, Robert W Thomastogether with the president Abinader Corona and USAID Country Director Rebecca Latorraca.

Friday April 29
No Covid-19 patients in intensive care
At least ten hospitals in the public network have ongoing early detection programs de breast, cervical and prostate cancer.
These are programs that allow the early detection of cancers with the highest incidence and which are then referred to the intervention units for their respective treatments.

Saturday April 30
There are 22 femicides, with 19 orphans
The director of the Lives without Violence Foundation, Yanira Fondeurassured yesterday that there is an alarming situation with cases of domestic violence, not only because of the number of femicides that occurredbut also because of the violence that prevails in the country towards women.
“We have already counted 19 orphans of violence so far this year 2022 and we have 22 victims of intimate femicides, so from the foundation we continue to warn women of these violent relationships,” he said.
