Tomorrow, Sunday, May 1, International Workers’ Day, the workers grouped in the Pit – Cnt, will carry out the act throughout the country, with four points as central axes:
-For the unity of those who move the wheel.
– Against hunger and famine.
-For work and salary.
-In defense of Social Security.
In Colonia del Sacramento
As I said in the city of Colonia del Sacramento, the concentration and subsequent act will be held at 11 am.
According to what was expressed to EL ECO, the act will consist of three parts:
-Space for speeches.
-Reading of the central proclamation.
-Music closing.
Gustavo Robatti: “a first of May similar to those of the nineties”
In dialogue with EL ECO, Gustavo Robatti, a Colonial union representative, pointed out that this May 1 “is very similar to what we lived in the 90s, where informality grows, where work accidents happen, where the Security reform Social raised by the Table of Experts punishes the worker by forcing him to work more years, to contribute more and earn less when they retire.
He also recalled that “we come from a pandemic that had a very strong social impact, which caused us to overcome the barrier of 100,000 poor people, informality prevails, and gold meshes are protected.”
Robatti also recalled that the worker’s claim is not heard by the government and that is transferred to the employers: Work is ignored. “And we continue to insist that housing cooperatives have to play a fundamental role for that worker who does not have purchasing power.”
And Robatti also had words about “the LUC, because thanks to it the salary is frozen, it lowers its average, therefore each retiree, each pensioner, each worker sees how collective bargaining is not motivating because the salary guidelines allow the employer use the minimum. That’s why there are two years of wage loss.”
That is why for this May 1 “we are calling you to express ourselves, to raise your voice, to raise our proclamation, and that is why we are calling all Uruguayans, all Uruguayan women, to make us feel on our platform…”
