The Argentine film Clementine won this Friday the Grand Prize for the best feature film in the international competitive section of the twenty-third edition of the Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (Bafici), which had full attendance after two years of the pandemic

According to the organization of the festival, the prize for the best actor went to the Chilean Juan Cano, for the film Ghost Projectwhile Judith Roddy was recognized as best actress for The Cry of Granuaile.
Meanwhile, the award for best direction went to the Spanish Neus Ballús, for Sis dies corrents (six ordinary days), which narrates a week in the life of three workers in a small plumbing and electricity company on the outskirts of Barcelona. Divided into six chapters, the protagonists must deal with the eccentricities of each of their clients.
On the other hand, in the exclusive competitive section for Argentine feature films, the winner turned out to be Amancaydirected by Máximo Ciambella, while the award for best local director went to Gastón Solnicki, for his work A Little Love Packagean Argentine-Austrian co-production that pays homage to the city of Vienna, and with humorous touches marks the end of an era for one of its protagonists.
Tundra: another Cuban short at the Buenos Aires Film Festival
In the new official Vanguard and Gender competition, she was chosen the mif (the family) by Frédéric Baillif as best feature film. This Swiss drama, which also won the grand prize, tells the story of a group of teenage girls who enter a foster home.

Bafici is one of the most important independent film festivals in Latin America and this new edition began last week with packed rooms, since strict sanitary protocols had to be imposed in 2021 due to the coronavirus, and it will conclude next Sunday.

The artistic director of the festival since 2016, Javier Porta Fouz, explained to Eph that he hopes that Bafici “helps to recover not only the center of the city of Buenos Aires, which already has enough life on its own, but also an idea of cinema as a diverse art”. “Cinema is so much more than brand-proven superheroes,” he added.
In this edition, two Cuban films made independently were presented: Blue Heartby Miguel Coyula, and Tundraby Jose Luis Aparicio.
