Guaidó from Guayana calls for this May 1 to the unity of the workers

Juan Guaidó participated in a meeting with workers and unions in Ciudad Guayana: he urged to strengthen alliances and stay mobilized

“Unify the struggle into one: Let’s save Venezuela,” the president of the 2015 National Assembly, Juan Guaidó, exhorted the country during a meeting with workers in Bolívar state on the occasion of the commemoration of International Workers’ Day, this May 1 .

“On the eve of May 1, our commitment must be firm from Guyana. Nothing can deform us in the fight for Venezuela. This May 1 we must resume the spaces; We are not going to let ourselves be screwed by a dictatorship, we are going to the streets to demand our rights”, said.

He indicated that rights are not begged, nor are they a favor; on the contrary, “rights are demanded and defended”; for what he asked for firmness in that fight that he also said, must be given daily.

Guaidó recalled that “Without democracy there are no rights, without democracy there is no collective contract, nor labor benefits”, for which he insisted on continuing to demand in all spaces conditions for the holding of free and fair presidential and parliamentary elections, which must begin in 2018 and 2020, respectively.

“Today I came to look for you here in Guayana so that we can save Venezuela. Here I am, for more persecution, for more threats, we are not going to stop, we are going to be in the streets with the people fighting (…) The message to political, social and union leaders is that the task is clear: strengthen alliances, unite and mobilize.

At the meeting The unions of Fetra Bolívar, Venalum, Alcasa, Carbonorca, Ferrominera, Orinoco Iron, teachers’ union, nurses’ union, lumber union, health union and the Federation of retirees and pensioners of Bolívar state.

Andrés Velásquez, from Causa R, was also present, who indicated that there was plenty of optimism among all those who were there.

“In the working class there is dedication, commitment, optimism, responsibility and determination. In Venezuela there will be no recovery without the workers of the country », he affirmed.

For his part, trade unionist César Soto stressed that in the working class, and much less in the trade union, there is fear when it comes to defending and demanding their rights. «We are free, free; that’s why we’ve never felt crestfallen, nor are we afraid to stand up in front of anyone to tell them their truths and defend our rights».
