He pointed out that his regime had already decided to leave the organization, but that “they wanted to have us by force and there is no people that accepts impositions when they have dignity and the Nicaraguan people have dignity and do not accept impositions,” although he did not mention that the Founding Charter of the OAS, to which Nicaragua adhered, establishes a period of two years from the moment the State resigns from the organization, so that the withdrawal can be made effective.
