Renowned Italian dancer Roberto Bolle announces possible presentation in Cuba

Italian dancer Roberto Bolle, who has performed with many of the most important companies in the world, expressed his desire to perform for the public on the Island during a visit to the Cuban National Ballet.

“It is a great pleasure to be in Cuba, I hope to be able to return to dance for the Cuban public at the next festival because the Cuban public is warm, it is a public that knows about dance, appreciates dance (…) it is something very beautiful for a dancer,” Bolle told the media, according to the agency AFP.

Bolle’s meeting with Cuban dancers took place prior to the International Dance Day, which was celebrated this Friday with activities in various parts of the planet. Viengsay Valdés, director and prima ballerina of the Cuban ballet, considered the exchange with the Italian artist an honor.

“For the National Ballet of Cuba, it is an honor to have Roberto Bolle here, one of the great famous Italian dancers,” said Valdés, who revealed that Alicia Alonso, founder of the National Ballet of Cuba, wanted the Italian to dance in his famous version. from “Giselle”

Bolle recognized the imprint of Cuban ballet on the international circuit and expressed his admiration for several of the most notable Cuban dancers. “There are so many dancers that I know, that I admire, that are a kind of idol for me, like Carlos Acosta, Osiel (Gounod) and so many very important dancers with whom I have worked and now we are long-standing friends,” he said.

Born in Italy in 1975, Bolle has worked with the Royal Ballet in London, the American Ballet Theater in New York, the Stockholm Ballet, among others, and has performed on the most important international stages such as the Paris Opera, the Ballet Bolshoi, The Royal Ballet and the Berlin Opera Ballet.
