The Permanent Commission of the Congress of the Union was installed yesterday and was made up of 37 deputies and senators, of which 23 are from Morena and its allies, and they are two votes away from gathering the qualified majority necessary to call extraordinary periods in both chambers. , where the electoral reform or other priority projects of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador could be voted on.

In both chambers, Morena made adjustments to recover spaces. In the Senate, he withdrew the place that he had ceded in the last three years to the coordinator of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), Miguel Ángel Mancera, since the majority of the morenistas pressured his coordinator, Ricardo Monreal, to do so. , with the argument that he is part of the opposition bloc and that his allies from the National Action Party (PAN) are the ones who give him one of his three seats.

However, Morena lost a vote anyway, since the Electoral Court of the Judicial Power of the Federation (TEPJF) ordered that the Plural Group that Germán Martínez put together with legislators who, like him, came from other benches, have a representation in the Permanent, a seat that went to Nancy de la Sierra, a former PT member.

In the Chamber of Deputies, Morena also made adjustments and left out the PRD and the Citizen Movement (MC) from that body of Congress that will meet in this legislative recess that begins this May and ends on August 30. Even so, it does not meet the 25 votes to form a qualified majority.

In addition, MC complained before the TEPJF and the Superior Chamber of that court gave a period of 72 hours to the governing bodies of the Chamber of Deputies to inform him about compliance with the sentence issued last January, in which ordered that in the next integration of the Permanent Commission all the benches be included, in accordance with the principle of maximum representation, effectiveness, proportionality and plurality.

In San Lázaro, the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) did show solidarity with the PRD, its ally in Va por México, and left it one of the three places that correspond to it in the Permanent Commission, which will be occupied by the PRD coordinator, Luis Espinosa Cházaro , although his substitute is the PRI Eduardo Zarzosa.

The deputies José Francisco Yunes Zorrilla and Mariano González Aguirre are the holders of the two places with which the PRI remained, and their substitutes are Alejandro Moreno, party leader, and Rubén Moreira, coordinator of the bench in San Lázaro.

Monreal, coordinator of Morena in the Senate, is not a regular in the Permanent Commission, but a substitute for Alejandro Armenta Mier, who aspires to preside over that chamber in the next September period.

Yesterday, the board of directors of the Permanent Commission was elected, headed by Olga Sánchez Cordero, also president of the Senate. As vice presidents were Sergio Gutiérrez Luna, current president in San Lázaro; the PAN deputy Lizbeth Mata Lozano and the PRI senator Claudia Ruiz Massieu.

As secretaries, Senator from Morena Lilia Margarita Valdez and PAN Senator Alfredo Botello Montes.
