In the National Congress they gave the final touches this morning to the preparations to receive Colombian President Iván Duque this afternoon at 3:00. The tasks were in charge of maintenance employees, as well as the administrative level.
While a discreet patrol by Police units, as well as members of the Presidential Guard and the Presidential Security Corps (CUSEP) has been arranged around the headquarters of the National Congress.
Upon arrival at the legislative headquarters, the South American president will receive the state honors corresponding to his investiture.
He will receive the protocol salute of 21 cannon shots, and in his honor the national anthems of the Dominican Republic and Colombia will be played.
Later, the Colombian president will participate in a solemn act of the joint meeting of the National Congress, where he will exchange messages of friendship, goodwill and mutual respect between both peoples with Estrella.
This meeting will be broadcast live on all digital platforms of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.
President Duque will be received by the president of the National Assembly and the Senate of the Republic, Eduardo Estrella, and by Alfredo Pacheco, president of the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic, respectively.
Members of the Presidential Guard and the Presidential Security Corps (CUSEP), were deployed from the early hours of the morning on the Congress premises, both inside and outside the legislative headquarters.
After the meeting, the leaders will hold an agreement signing ceremony, an award ceremony, a joint declaration and a lunch.

At the end of the events at the National Palace, the Colombian ruler and his official entourage will visit the Altar of the Fatherland, where they will lay a floral offering, and later, President Duque will visit the National Congress.

Duque arrived in the country around 11:00 at night on a private flight, through Las Américas International Airport, Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez, accompanied by an official delegation.
Upon his arrival, he was received by the Vice Ministers of Foreign Affairs, José Julio Gómez and Rubén Silié; the ambassador of the Dominican Republic in Colombia, Julio Cordero; the ambassador, director of State Ceremonial and Protocol, Francisco Cantizano and the first secretary, Hernán Iván Sánchez.
During his official visit, Duque will sign several bilateral agreements with President Luís Abinader, who will receive him this morning at the National Palace.
Both leaders will hold a private audience and later, an extended one in which the delegations of both countries will participate, according to a statement
