#FreeZone | Mexico and our social duel

But the trilateral meeting goes far beyond the issues that have been dealt with on the agenda (COVID, migration and security). The political overtones focus on the face-to-face meeting and what the “face to face” can generate. Well, far behind was that uncomfortable and criticized meeting of last July 2020 with Donald trump. Now, the Mexican president will arrive in Washington DC in a relaxed way and even with a good position to discuss issues that not only concern the Mexican State, but with the spirit of a president who leads other of his peers in the area, as the summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held on September 18 in Mexico City.

AMLO will go head-to-head with his counterparts to defend tough issues. The Mexican is in full campaign to show the benefits of his energetic reform, which directly hits mega-companies from both northern nations. He will have to speak directly about the migration of all the Latin American countries that our country is crossing to reach the borders and they already have a real conflict with the thousands of travelers; caravans that do not have great hopes of reaching the North American side, and many of their members are already seriously thinking about settling in Mexican territory.

Among the other global issues that López Obrador wants to advocate is that of vaccines against COVID-19. The man from Tabasco will seek to demand the provision of millions of syringes to Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the recognition of each and every one of the vaccines approved by the who in the United States and Canada.

The president is confident that “something very good will come out” next Thursday. He even says that he will not waste time. He wants solutions and he wants them immediately, like someone who despairs in an order for American fast food.

“They are men of action, then, it is not to go to conceptualize, or only to analyze reality, it is to make decisions because they are not here to waste time, nor are we,” he said bluntly on the morning of November 16. and added: “The most important thing about the summits is the results, that the agreements are carried out.”
