PRI, PAN and PRD senators criticize the presidential initiative

Senators from PRI, PAN and PRD disqualified President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s proposal for constitutional reform in electoral matters and warned that it will not happen as it is, while legislators from Morena maintained that they will seek agreements with the opposition.

It is a proposal that aims to respond to accumulated problems and address social demands to improve the electoral system.highlighted the coordinator Ricardo Monreal in a message, while José Narro, also a Morenista, said that although his party does not have a qualified majority in either of the two chambers, “we have to fight and do more and better politics to get it out.” the electoral reform proposed by the President of the Republic.

However, at a press conference, PAN members Damián Zepeda and Kenia López Rabadán maintained that they will not give a single vote to an initiative focused on liquidating the National Electoral Institute (INE) and dominating Congress.

Claudia Anaya, senator of the PRI, considered that the reform proposed by the President arises from resentment and his fixation that an election was stolen from him, but the opposition bloc will not allow the President to destroy the INE to create a body under his control.

The coordinator of the PRD senators, Miguel Ángel Mancera, stressed that if that proposal cannot be changed by a point or a comma, then it will not have the accompaniment of the opposition. There must be debate, dialogue to work on building an initiative.
