Data from the ANP’s Price Survey System (SLP) indicate that, in the week between the 17th and April 23, the average by region was lower in the South, with R$ 7,109, and higher in the Midwest, with R$ 7,440. The highest value found for gasoline was R$ 8,559 and the lowest, R$ 6,190. The survey involved 5,235 filling stations.
In the previous week, the average price of a liter of gasoline in the country was R$ 7,219 and, in the week from 3 to 9th April, in BRL 7,192. The increase seen from the second to the third week Of april was 0.7%. In the previous week, the growth had been 0.37%.
The rise in the price of gasoline was accentuated last year. The first time that a liter of regular gasoline exceeded R$ 5 was in March of last year, when gas stations in the country charged an average of R$ 5,484 per liter of fuel. In September last year, the value reached R$ 6,078.
The policy of International Parity Price (PPI) of Petrobras was adopted in October 2016, causing the price of oil products in the country to be calculated based on variations in the international market. The value then began to be strongly influenced by changes in the price of the dollar and the barrel of oil and subject to more frequent readjustments, which came to be daily.
