Appointment of the TSJ out of time
On the afternoon of this Tuesday, April 26, outside the periods established by the Constitution, the National Assembly (AN) elected in 2020 appointed the new magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), their alternates, the Court Inspector and the Director of the National School of the Judiciary. 12 of the magistrates already in office repeat and will exceed the constitutional limit of 12 years for the highest judicial positions.
«Now that the list of the new magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice is known, it should be noted that of the 20 of the total, 12 of those of the previous period repeat (60%), being the majority in the Constitutional, Criminal, Political, Administrative and Electoral chambers» , said the NGO Acceso a la Justicia and its director Alí Daniels.

“The TSJ makes provisional appointments of judges, so, as the Fact-Finding Mission highlighted, “selections and dismissals can be made without cause and outside the established process,” Cepaz warned.
The journalist Eugenio Martínez recalled that the current magistrate Tania D’Amelio -former rector of the National Electoral Council-, came to the electoral body “in violation of the law (when he was nominated in 2008 he officially belonged to the PSUV board, although he later resigned, he still violated the law).
With the departure of Tania D Amelio from the CNE (after 14 years as rector) the debate on her replacement will arise. Her first substitute is Leonel Párica (very close to Héctor Rodríguez). However, the new TSJ (of which Amelio is a part) can opt for Carlos Quintero

While the former deputy from Anzoátegui, Neptali Figueroa he snapped: «It is stupid to be analyzing the names of the magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice appointed by the AN. They are all chips that obey the designs of the regime.
#26Apr It is tragically comical about the “Supreme Court of Justice” of the Chavista regime that illegitimately “reelects” for a second time the same magistrates that Chavez’s own constitution of 99 PROHIBITS reelection…

“Distribution of quotas”
For its part, the Primero Justicia party published a statement stating that “we have witnessed a process that has been marked by an internal struggle within the PSUV (governing party), which has turned this “appointment of magistrates” into a distribution of quotas between different fractions of madurismo».
And he assures that with this “the regime has once again squandered an opportunity for all Venezuelans for a serious negotiation and a judiciary according to the needs of Venezuelans.”
