Two asteroids will fly over Earth this weekend

The former was first discovered on May 3, 2016, and is currently only 5.98 million kilometers from Earth.

Although it seems like a long way off, based on light measurements it takes only 19 seconds to travel to Earth.

This asteroid – which is about 190 meters in diameter – is close enough for it to be watched closely.

If it follows the same trajectory at a speed of seven kilometers per second as it passes in front of the Earth, it can be seen at approximately 00:23 hours on Saturday, November 20.

Meanwhile, 3361 Orpheus – discovered in 1982 – is 300 meters long and a distance of 5.7 million kilometers from Earth, and will be seen on November 21.

According to specialized sources, an asteroid is a rocky celestial body, smaller than a planet and orbiting between Mars and Jupiter in the region of the solar system known as the asteroid belt.

Others accumulate at Jupiter’s Lagrange points, with most of the rest crossing the orbits of the planets.

The word asteroid comes from the Greek and means “stellar figure”, referring to the appearance they present when viewed with a telescope.
