In a migration interaction operation, members of the Army of the Dominican Republic in coordination with the Intelligence Service S-2, they arrested a Dominican today while trying illegally bringing 44 Haitian nationals into the country.
The detainee was identified as Edward Rafael Santana Sosa, resident in the La Breña sector in Martín García province of Santiago Rodríguez.
Santana Sosa was surprised by the army agents while transporting the Haitian nationals in a red Daihatsu truck, plate number L130668.

The detainees do not carry any type of documents. 32 are men and 12 women.
The captured Dominican was transferred to the facilities of the 4th. Army Brigade based in Mao, while Haitian nationals were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for their repatriation.
It is recalled that in the face of the crisis in neighboring Haiti, the Dominican authorities reported that they have increased the military presence to prevent undocumented persons from continuing to cross illegally.
