Díaz-Canel: The transformations in Cuba have to respond to socialism

Miguel Díaz-Canel

MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel assured this Monday that all the transformations that take place on the Island “have to respond to socialism” and must be carried out “from the perspective of Marxism,” according to the state agency. Latin Press.

The also first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba made such statements during the meeting of the Council of Ministers corresponding to April, held on April 25.

“The measures that are updated have to be revolutionary, transformative, seeking to eliminate bureaucracy, with more efficient control mechanisms and achieve the articulation of all the economic actors that exist,” the president also said.

As usual, Díaz-Canel blamed the United States embargo for the precarious situation on the Island. He also condemned the alleged “media campaigns that seek to misrepresent the reality of the Island.”

At another point in his speech, he insisted on the concept of “creative resistance”, which, according to the president, is aimed at “overcoming” the crisis with his own effort and talent.

In the usual triumphant speech of the Cuban leaders, he boasted about the opening of the borders and the supposed gradual revival of the island’s economy. “That is creative resistance,” he said. “We not only resist, we jump over adversity, we overcome adversity.”

In a similar speech, during the closing of the Provincial Assembly of the Havana Party on April 9, Díaz-Canel assured that the PCC was fighting for the “prosperity” of the people.

According to the dictator, the organization he heads “fights for a prosperity that ranges from food to recreation, that includes scientific development, superior spiritual wealth, well-being and that empowers the design of the functional and the beautiful.”

In his extensive speech, plagued by the commonplaces of the official discourse, Díaz-Canel also blamed the embargo imposed by the United States for the serious structural problems of the Cuban economy.

Likewise, he justified the repression given the increase in what he considers “political-ideological subversion.”

On that occasion, the president also assured that the PCC was engaged in “finding the contradictions” of Cuban society. “All that [hay que] do it with a defense of socialism from Marxist approaches to avoid getting out of the way, especially at a time when there are neoliberal currents that try to impose their criteria and many of these ideas come disguised as a semantic and emotional mantle to confuse”, he said.
