After the early departure of the Nicaraguan administration from the Organization of American States (OAS), human rights defender Haydée Castillo pointed out that this new attack by the regime “should lead the member states to reflect” on how they have handled the diplomatic relations with Daniel Ortega.
The activist, on her Twitter account, remarked that “the radicalization of the Ortega Murillo regime and its entrenchment should lead to reflection by the States that with their votes decide in the OAS about its preventive and timely action in the face of the democratic breakdown.
“We warn you so much. The most impoverished are the victims », she pointed out, referring to the countless demands and complaints that the opposition in Nicaragua has made before the OAS to expose the Ortega dictatorship.

On April 24, the regime of Daniel Ortega withdrew the credentials of its representatives before the OASOrlando Tardencilla, Iván Lara and Michael Campbell, and announced the closure of the organization’s office in Managua, calling it an “instrument of Yankee imperialism.”
The decision was made known through a statement read by Foreign Minister Denis Moncada, five months after Nicaragua will announce its withdrawal from the OAS.
Moncada, joined by the now former representatives Campbell and Lara, maintained that the country will not have a presence in any of the instruments of the regional forum, which he called “diabolical.” The OAS “(is) plagued with insults, offenses, indignities, calamities and aggressions,” the foreign minister continued, in tune with the violent speech of spokeswoman Rosario Murillo.
“Nor will this infamous body, consequently, have offices in our country. Its local headquarters have been closed,” added the regime’s foreign minister.
The situation occurs a month after former ambassador to the OAS Arthur McFields rebel against the dictatorship and denounce before the organization the human rights abuses committed by Ortega-Murillo.
