The writer Pablo Gomez Bourbon received the National Award last night Eduardo León Jimenes Book Fair 2022in its XXV edition, for his book “Dying in Brussels”, in a ceremony led by the Minister of Culture, Miracles German.
The act was in the monument to Fray Antón de Montesino. The winner received a check for RD$1.0 million and a certificate, presented by Germán and the president of the Eduardo León Jimenes Foundation and CND, Maria Amalia Leon and Joan Ferrerof the FIL.
The jury that selected Gómez was made up of intellectuals Altagracia Pou Suazo, Manuel Garcia Cartagena and Natalia Gonzalez Tejera, who chose it from among 60 works published between January and December of the year 2021.
“The continuous support, from its origins, to this award conceived as recognition and encouragement to the Dominican writer, who produces and disseminates ideas, corresponds to the expression of commitment assumed by the León family to contribute to the social and cultural development of Dominicans. to achieve the dream of a better nation through its literary production” expressed León.
“Here we are, overcoming all the inconveniences that the rain caused us,” said Germán. They inaugurated an exhibition on the XXV awards.

Diaspora writers are in SD
A delegation of well-known writers from the diaspora are participating in the Santo Domingo International Book Fair 2022which will be held until May 2 in the Colonial City, as reported yesterday by the Ministry of Culture.
Among the diaspora writers who came to the country to participate in the fair are Kianny Antigua, Angie Cruz, Marie Yante Encarnación, Yaissa Jiménez, Anthony Stevens-Acevedo, and Francis Mateowho reside in New York, United States.
are also present Sorayda Peguero Isaac, Rosa Silverio, Marielys Duluc Reyna and Hermes de Paula, who live in Spain; Y Karlina Veraswho came from the UK.
These authors, as Culture explained in a press release, will be participating in various conferences, colloquiums, workshops and book presentations, among other activities that make up the fair’s programming.
