The defense of the former chief of finances of the Army, Francisco Pizarro Barriosrequested the prescription of the crime of misappropriation of public funds, for which he is prosecuted in the framework of the “Reserved Expenses” case of the military institution.

According to Pizarro’s defense, the amounts were used for “public needs fundamentally related to the maintenance of the institutional house of the Commander-in-Chief of the Army and various protocol expenses that the exercise of such a position entails.”
Let us remember that the ex-chief of finances of the Army was prosecuted as the author of embezzlement of public funds in the period March 2006 – March 2010, for an amount of 12,749.4 UTM, equivalent to $708,063,427.
