SANTO DOMINGO.-President Luis Abinader yesterday supervised the construction work of the Cable Car and the second line of the Santo Domingo Metro in Los Alcarrizos to learn about their progress, where he assured that he was satisfied with the details offered by the engineers of both works.
During the tour, the president explained that in the case of the Cable Car, its execution is in accordance with the established critical route and its start-up will be at the end of this year.
“I am satisfied with the work so far, but I will be much more satisfied when it is ready. We are giving a weekly follow-up to this work”, he expressed.
The head of state added that 70% of the cable car’s electromechanical equipment is located in the country.
The president explained that on its way, the Cable Car would save its users more than an hour in the inner part of Los Alcarrizos.
Abinader specified that in the case of the second line of the Santo Domingo Metro, which is being built from kilometer 9 of the Duarte highway to the Los Alcarrizos entrance, it will be ready within 22 months.
The second line of the Santo Domingo cable system being built in Los Alcarrizos is managed by the Unit for the Readjustment of Neighborhoods and Environments (URBE), an office attached to the Ministry of the Presidency (MINPRE).
The Los Alcarrizos Cable Car forms part of one of the pillars of President Abinader’s administration, whose vision has focused on the creation of a social transport system, accessible to the majority of the population, managing to provide a solution to a national problem that limits the inclusive development and sustainable growth of Dominican society.

To date, the project has a general execution progress of about 40% of the established construction schedule. The electromechanical part has an advance of 38%, the electrical component 31% and in civil works the advance is 33%.
The Los Alcarrizos Cable Car is part of one of the strongest pillars of President Abinader’s administration, whose vision has focused on the creation of a social transport system, accessible to the majority of the population, managing to solve a problem that limits the inclusive development and sustainable growth of Dominican society.
This second line of the Santo Domingo Cable Car will impact the lives of nearly 400,000 inhabitants, contributing to mobility options and formal public transportation in the city, facilitating the connection with Santo Domingo Oeste and the National District.

Abinader leads 24 activities in two days
Activities. During the weekend, President Luis Abinader exhausted an agenda of 24 activities in the municipality of Santo Domingo Oeste, which included first palazos, visits to INESPRE markets, supervision of asphalt paving, and the start of housing reconstruction, among others.
The president began on Saturday the rehabilitation of the old building of the Regional Hospital Doctor Marcelino Vélez Santana, which will be converted into a modern Maternal and Child Unit, with an investment of RD$617 million, of which RD$477,121,064.92 will be for infrastructure.
