The Barrio Front, an organization belonging to the Central de Trabajadores Argentinos (CTA), held a protest on Monday with a new “panazo” in the Plaza Miserere in the Balvanera neighborhood of Buenos Aires in rejection of the “great speculation in food prices Union sources reported.
In the demonstration “more than a ton of bread was sold at 150 pesos per kilo”, sources in the sector told Télam.
“We have already started our action, which will also be repeated with several more tons for sale in provinces such as Santa Fe and in 10 other districts in the interior of the country,” CTA spokesmen reported.
In that sense, Juan Vitta, coordinator of the CTA Neighborhood Front of the province of Buenos Airestold Télam: “We are not going to let price makers steal food from the table of Argentines.”
“Today, five flour mills are filled with money, raising prices and millions of families in Argentina suffer, without being able to bring food to their children’s tables,” said the neighborhood leader.
