Minister does not rule out that there are injuries among the Puentesiño attackers

This morning, the head of the Ministry of the Interior visited Major Petty Officer Marciano Flecha Portillo, who was sent to the “Rigoberto Caballero” Police Hospital in Asunción after the attack recorded yesterday in the former Puentesiño area.

“Thank God he is safe, he is alive and in good spirits,” said Federico González when speaking with the media.

He himself pointed out that they are accompanying the relatives of the soldiers who were attacked, especially considering the loss of three lives during this tragic event. They are Deputy Commissioner Ever Nelson Espínola, Senior Petty Officer Silvio de Jesús Cáceres and First Petty Officer Arístides Ramón Zalazar Talavera.

Likewise, he mentioned that the bodies of the deceased police officers could be brought to Asunción from the Concepción area during the course of the day.

“Probably there are wounded among the criminals,” said the minister, who also confirmed that there is an alert in the hospitals in the area due to the possibility that the criminals could come to seek medical attention.

González pointed out that there is coordinated work with the Brazilian Federal Police in case the attackers flee to the border area.

It is presumed that a group of suspected marijuana users, made up of 15 to 20 people, would have been the one that perpetrated the attack against the members of the Anti-Narcotics Department in the district of José Félix López (former Puentesiño).
