The political leader Rafael (Fafa) Taveras asked to convene the competent bodies of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) to choose the members that will make up the electoral commission that will hold the national convention to elect new authorities.
In a letter addressed to the National Executive Directorate of the PRM, its president, José Ignacio Paliza and its general secretary, Carolina Mejía, Taveras points out that “the current PRM authorities were elected in March 2018 and sworn in in June of that same anus”. He recalled that the PRM was formed with the unwavering decision to defend and expand democracy, rescuing its weakened and malfunctioning institutions, acting in consensus with active and conscious citizens. In Fafa Taveras’s opinion, the conventions establish a State of rights, a country of equal opportunities that favor an authentic democracy.
“In pursuit of this democratic strengthening, the PRM statutes include in its seventeen chapters and its 137 articles, the expression of what we want to be as a political organization: a different and hopeful reference,” he said. He estimated that this reference not only favors the PRM, but the entire Dominican society. He pointed out that the statutes of the PRM are clear and guiding, “so the constitution of the party and the Constitution must be respected and applied.” The Party Law obliges the PRM to choose new authorities.
