In 4 months, 70 MW of renewables have entered

The country continues with the wind and the sun in its favor on its way to introduce renewable energy sources to the generation matrix.

(Four other renewable energy plants are ready).

Only so far this year, 70 megawatts (MW) have entered the National Interconnected System (SIN) of complexes that produce clean energy, represented by four plants (one wind and three solar).

The first initiative to reach the system was last January, with the Guajira 1 wind farm, project with an installed capacity of 20 MW represented by 10 wind turbines and located in Uribia (La Guajira) and whose electricity would cover the energy consumed by more than 33,000 homes.

Days later, La Sierpe, a photovoltaic plant, came into operation. The complex is located in San Benito Abad (Sucre), and nearly US$20 million (US$1 million per MW) were invested in its assembly.

(With 12 projects, the country diversifies its energy matrix).

Helios I solar generation project was inaugurated in February, the design, implementation and commissioning of which was carried out by Northland Power, through the Boyacá Energy Company.

Its installed capacity is 12 MW, it is located in the village of La Unión (Meta), with the capacity to generate 295.66 MW of clean energy, equivalent to the consumption of 215,166 Colombian families.

A month later, it began operations in Santa Rosa de Lima (Bolívar), the Tucanes solar park built by the Spanish company Grenergy Renovables, and whose installed capacity is 12 MW.

This is the first of a group of photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 72 MW, whose production of 140 GWh/year will be enough to supply electricity to 40,000 homes.
