City in Motion Dance Festival Concludes in Havana

The International Festival of Dance in Urban Landscapes Old Havana: City in Motion ends this Sunday with a commitment to artistic experimentation and a call to preserve nature and the conjugation of talents of different ages, official media on the Island report.

In the forum, the participants discussed the link with community projects, the consolidation of academic collaborative networks in Ibero-American videodance and the analysis of the concept of choreographic work throughout the 20th century, details the program of the event.

Likewise, the Flamenca Ecos company was in charge of creating a Flashmob por bulerías, a party dance in which diverse artists joined in the street, which was an opportunity to “make passers-by and artists vibrate with joy”. Havana’s Historic Center, the agency specifies.

In parallel, the XVI edition of the DV Danza Habana, Movimiento y Ciudad International Videodance Festival also took place, which screened works from Chile, Mexico, the United States, Finland, Brazil, Spain, Uruguay, Argentina, Germany and Cuba.

In accordance with PLHabana Vieja: Ciudad en Movimiento is a unique event that has been held annually since 1996 and seeks to bring the viewer closer to a combination of artistic expressions inspired by the history, architecture and design of the historic center of Havana.

The publication recalls that the event celebrated on this occasion the 35th anniversary of the Retazos Dance Theater Company, which is in charge of organizing the meeting, which has the support of the Office of the Historian of the City of Havanathe National Center for performing arts and other cultural entities of the Island.
