Madrid Spain.- One of the most violent repressors of State Security, José Luis Méndez, alias “Camilo”, was identified in a video shared on social networks of the recent visit of the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel to the Electrical Division, in Havana.
In the recordingreleased by the Cuban journalist José Raúl Gallego, shows “Camilo”, dressed in a red pullover, in the protection cordon for Díaz-Canel.
“It would be good for opponents, activists, independent journalists to see this video, of very good quality and with close-ups, to see if they recognize any of those who have repressed them,” said José Raúl Gallego after mentioning that together with “Camilo” there were other people “who must belong to the same repressive body.”
“We have to give these people a name and a face, because justice is going to come. It has to come,” added the journalist.
In the comments to the publication of José Raúl Gallego, the university student Leonardo Romero Negrín, and the activist Thais Mailén Franco, confirmed the identity of the repressor, since both had been mistreated by “Camilo” in the demonstration of April 30, 2021, on Calle Obispo, when they demanded to enter the home of Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, who was on a hunger strike at the time.
“Camilo is the one in the red shirt. (…) He is a full-fledged mobster, ”said Romero Negrín.
While Franco assured: “This man in the red sweater, on April 30, repressed us and mistreated us, and personally he was the one who pushed me and put me headfirst into the police bus. I confirm that he is this man.”
“Camilo” was also among the repressors who violently detained the activists and relatives of the protesters of the 11J that the past January 31 They gathered in front of the Municipal Court of Diez de Octubre to demand the release of the 33 people who were being prosecuted.
That day, among others, the activists Tata Poet, Daniela Rojo, Leonardo Romero Negrín, Camila Rodríguez and Carolina Barrero were arrested; the relatives Yudinela Castro, Yesenia Díaz and the entire family of Duannis Dabel León Taboada, including the 18-year-old sister and the 60-year-old grandmother.
