A report presented by the consulting firm LCG revealed that the price of food rose more than 2% in the last week. It occurs at a time when the international situation and the inflation of the country remain unstable.
The latest estimate of prices made by the Indec (National Institute of Statistics and Censuses) revealed that the inflation March was 6.7%, while food rose 7.2%, the most important rise in recent years.
The indicator would have accelerated 0.5% during the last week, when a rise of 1.6% was registered. The segments most affected by inflation were those of baked goods and meat, which in total had a movement of 80%.
The data published by Ámbito indicate that bakery products, pasta and cereals experienced a 4% increase in their worthwhile condiments and other food products rose 3.7%.
Meats rose 3.5%, beverages and infusions 1.3%, sugar, honey, sweets and cocoa increased 1.2%. Oils had a variation of 0.8% in their price and dairy products 0.3%.
Those that performed favorably in the last seven days are fruits and vegetables, since they did not experience the effect of the inflation. In fact, several products lowered their price.
The inflation The annual rate of the food and beverage index was 5.7% in the last four weeks and 4.4%, if measured only between that period. Almost 20% of the products of the basic basket presented a price increase.
The inflation projection for April
The inflation in Argentina, as in other countries of the world, it is affected by the war between Russia and Ukraine. In March, the rise in prices was 6.7%, and the Government believes that April will have a smaller variation but that it is also worrying.
For April there will be a slowdown, it is estimated that the variation will be greater than 4%, especially in the areas of food and beverages. The heads of the institutions related to the economy work on plans that reduce the impact of the variations in the pocket of the population.
