Inter takes command of Serie A after beating Roma 3-1

Inter Milan move to the top of the Serie A standings after beating Roma 3-1 on Saturday on matchday 34 of the Italian championship, leading Milan by one point, which on Sunday travels to the capital to face Lazio.

The Dutch Denzel Dumfries (30), the Croatian Marcelo Brozovic (40) and the Argentine Lautaro Martínez (52) were the architects with their goals of the interista victory, the fourth consecutive in the championship.

In the last half hour, Inter dedicated themselves to managing the advantage and keeping their strength for the late match that he has to play against Bologna on Wednesday, which Roma took advantage of to save their honor with a goal from the Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan (85).

The Portuguese coach of Roma, José Mourinho thus ended his unbeaten streak in 12 games on the pitch of the team he led to the historic treble in 2010.

Earlier, Atalanta put an end to its negative streak of three consecutive losses in the championship, winning his visit to Venice (3-1), thanks especially to the first goal of the Colombian Duvan Zapata in 2022

Mario Pasalic opened the scoring before the break (44), before Zapata, perfectly assisted by his compatriot Luis Muriel, put an end to his scoring drought after passing through the locker room (47), with his tenth goal in the championship but the first since the end of November. Muriel himself scored a goal (63), before Domen Crnigoj (80) scored the only goal for the hosts.

“I had been waiting for this goal since my return, but above all this victory that we needed so much,” said Zapata to DAZN, referring to the injury that has kept him out of the field of play during the first months of the year.

Atalanta thus achieves its first victory for more than a month (March 20 against Bologna). For their part, the Venetians chained their eighth consecutive defeat and remain last, tied on points with Salernitana (18th) and Genoa (19th), the other two teams in relegation.

Cwith the salvation marked by Cagliari (17th), with six units more with five games to go, Unione Venezia are close to returning to the Italian second division, a year after promotion.

In the other match played, Torino (11th) beat Spezia (15th) 2-1, thanks to a brace from Serbian Sasa Lukic (4 penalty, 69).
