Brazil took the podium twice this Monday (15th) at the Pan American Championship in Lima (Peru). In mixed doubles, Bruna Takahashi and Vitor Ishy won gold, the country’s first medal in the competition. Then Ishy also won bronze, alongside Erick Jouti, in the male partnership dispute.

Takahashi and Vitor Ishy confirmed their favoritism by beating Argentines Camila Arguelles and Horacio Cifuentes by 3 sets to 1 (11/9, 11/7, 6/11 and 11/7). Then, in the men’s semi, Jouti and Vitor Ishiy stopped in front of the Chileans Gustavo Gomez and Juan Lamadrid. The Brazilians lost 3-1 (partials of 7/11, 5/11, 11/9 and 11/8) and took the bronze.
The country can expand the medals table with the conclusion of individual disputes. From 5 pm (GMT) the individual semifinals will start. Bruna Takahashi disputes the semifinal with North American Lily Zhang, and Carol Kumahara faces Puerto Rican Adriana Diaz, number 17. From 6:30 pm, the 100% Brazilian men’s semifinal starts: Hugo Calderano, number 5 in the world, measures forces with Ishiy (63rd in the rankings). Whoever advances will compete in the final at 21:15.
