The Minister of Economy and Finance, Azucena Arbeleche, will head, this Friday 22, in Washington DC, United States, the session of the Development Committee of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). It is the first time that Uruguay leads this global ministerial forum. In addition, the Uruguayan delegation will hold meetings with authorities from other governments, multilateral organizations and investors.
The international scope promotes the creation of intergovernmental consensus on issues of development and social equity, it was established in 1974 and is made up of 25 components. Most of the members are finance ministers from countries that are part of the World Bank and the IMF. Arbeleche was elected as president by the members of the forum and she will exercise this role for a term of one year.
The minister is in Washington, where the spring meetings of the World Bank and the IMF are being held, accompanied by the director of Economic Policy, Marcela Bensión, and the head of the Debt Management Unit, Herman Kamil.
The members of the delegation will hold meetings with authorities from other governments, multilateral organizations, investors and representatives of the private sector.
