37 extremists killed in national Army attacks in Nigeria

The entity specified through a statement that the action of the uniformed men took place in the town of Askira Uba during an offensive unleashed as a result of the death of the senior Army officer, Brigadier General Dzarma Zirkusu, and four soldiers.

Zirkusu and part of his bodyguard were killed by members of the Iswap in the last hours in an ambush when they were heading to a village in the Bungulwa demarcation, near Askira Uba, the source said.

Nigerian military troops, which carry out operations against extremist groups in Borno and other northern districts, also confirmed the capture of abundant war stock, including nine trucks with weapons and transport vehicles and protected against mines.

Previously, on November 11, the director of the defense media, Brigadier Bernard Onyeuko, assured that the regular troops are successfully carrying out a military campaign in the north of this country.

The source appreciated that such raids allowed to reduce the operational capacity of extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Iswap itself, by limiting the mobility of both formations, which spread terror among the civilian population.

For several months, Nigerian forces have been carrying out the so-called Operation Hadin Kai in northern areas of this territory, including the states of Borno and Yobe.
