Meteorological alert applies for Pinamar, Mar del Plata, Villa Gesell, La Costa, Balcarce and Tandil
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued this morning a “yellow” alert for strong winds with gusts that could reach 75 kilometers per hour accompanied by isolated storms for this afternoon and night in several districts of the Atlantic Coast and the mountainous area of the province of Buenos Aires.
The parties reached by the alert are General Pueyrredón (Mar del Plata), General Alvarado (Miramar), Necochea, Mar Chiquita, Villa Gesell, Pinamar, La Costa, Balcarce, San Cayetano, General Madariaga and Tandil.
The part of the SMN warns that “the area will be affected by south winds with speeds between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour, with gusts that can reach 75 kilometers per hour.”
The winds will be accompanied during the afternoon of this Monday with isolated storms and, towards the night, showers and isolated storms are expected, the SMN reported.
Although the alert and the winds will begin this afternoon, the sky in Pinamar, Villa Gesell and La Costa was partially clear this morning, while in Mar del Plata, Tandil, Necochea, San Cayetano, Miramar, Mar Chiquita and Balcarce the The sky was covered with mist, and according to weather forecasts a maximum of between 21 and 25 degrees Celsius is expected.
As is often the case with meteorological alerts, the municipal Civil Defense areas of the towns affected by the short-term warning – yellow alert – advised their inhabitants to avoid staying on public roads if not necessary, and to keep or hold those objects that they are outdoors in their homes.
