Senator Jorge Querey stated that his colleague Enrique Riera is seeking to impose a repressive state in our country with the bill that seeks to increase penalties for road closures. He also indicated that he hopes that the proposal will not be accepted and that human rights prevail, especially the freedom to move.
Regarding the position of the representatives of the Paraguayan Industrial Union (UIP), he said that he was not surprised, adding that, instead of having the motivation to be part of the solution, the members of the UIP are part of the problem. “They could be great collaborators and not try to build a repressive state,” he said.
He also indicated that the attribution that is given to the left over these road closures comes from the time of Alfredo Stroessner and that it is not something new as well as the conservative sectors.
