Marcela Galindo assumes as new president of the CCIAP


This is the first time in the guild’s 107 years that a woman has taken the reins of the guild. “We have a historic commitment and from now on we know that other women will come,” she stressed.

n a ceremony that was attended by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, businesswoman Marcela Galindo De Obarrio, took office as the new president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama.

This is the first time in the guild’s 107 years that a woman has taken the reins of the guild. “We have a historic commitment and from now on we know that other women will come,” she stressed.

Marcela Galindo said that her management will be focused on aspects related to education, entrepreneurship and gender equality. She called on the Government and the leadership of the rest of the social and business associations to leave behind the politics of division and walk the path of consensus, respect for opinions and joint work. She stressed that her board of directors will continue with an ally for the government administration in addressing important issues for the country.

During his speech, President Laurentino Cortizo applauded Galindo’s election as the new president of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama and thanked former president José Ramón Icaza for his leadership over the past year.

Executive authorities and directors of other business associations participated in the swearing-in ceremony of the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama for the period 2022-2023.
