The G. 100,000 in emergencies and the G. 500,000 in intensive care do not represent a tariff increase, but simply a way to simplify individual payments that were already made, reports the Hospital de Clínicas. It ensures that there is always an exemption in different percentages, depending on the socioeconomic level of the patients.
The expenses that patients previously managed individually, from now on are simplified in a single step and only once, that is, for each event, but there is no increase, clarifies the Hospital de Clínicas.
For admission to the emergency room, G. 100,000 is paid, which includes: laboratory studies, x-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms and invasive procedures in the emergency room.
In intensive care, the G.500,000 supplies for the duration of the hospitalization, however extensive it may be and includes: laboratory studies, x-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms and complex invasive procedures in said unit.
Within the application of these fees, there is also a socioeconomic evaluation of the patient, which allows an exemption to be applied, as the case may be. The categories are classified into three.
Category A: corresponds to patients who have a precarious income or work activity.
Category B: to people who have income of 1 or 2 minimum wages, and depending on the number of members who pay for that salary.
Category C: includes patients who have IPS or private insurance, and an income greater than 3 or 4 minimum wages; or patients from private sanatoriums who, due to their complexity, are referred to the Hospital de Clínicas.
FULL EXEMPTION
Patients with socioeconomic limitations or in a condition of abandonment have access to total exemption; those of original or indigenous peoples who by law agree to total exemption, and persons deprived of their liberty.
