Former Minister of Health, Rosario Turner is running to seek the presidency of the CEN of the PRD

The former Minister of Health, Rosario Turner, went to the headquarters of the Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRD) on Tuesday afternoon to run for the position of president of the National Executive Committee (CEN) of that political organization.

Accompanied by the current general secretary of the party, Pedro Miguel González, the former minister assured that “in the most difficult moments in the country” she was consistent “not only with speech but with deeds” for what she believes she can do a good leadership of the party.

Hours before it had been reported that the Turner-González formula would run at the same time to preside over the leadership of the PRD. González confirmed that alliance, however, he announced that he decided to wait until tomorrow, the last day of applications.

He said they will wait until the last minute to come up with a “consensus payroll.” In his opinion, the ideal is for it to be a list where there are no “preconceived candidates.”

“We must wait until the last moment to achieve a real list of consensus. Attempting to attack the leadership structures of the party from positions of power in the government is something that we said we would oppose. We’re still on time. Dr. Turner represents a beacon of hope,” she said.

If this consensus is not reached, González will present himself to seek re-election in the position of secretary general of the PRD. “We believe that the party advanced six years ago towards an institutional direction and it would be unfortunate that after six years, now in government, we try to return to scenarios that we had overcome and that only brought us division and failure in two consecutive elections,” he added.

This election will be next May 15 at the XI Ordinary Congress of the PRD.
