Cuba and Germany resume musical education project for young people on the island

Cuban and Germany restarted an educational project focused on teaching the orchestral and chamber music in new Cuban creators, inform official media of the Island.

Under the name Cuban European Youth Orchestra, the initiative returns to the Caribbean nation after a two-year hiatus due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as a result of the alliance between the Lyceum Mozartiano de La Habana and the Balthasar Neumann Academy, according to run report from the agency Latin Press (PL).

According to the organizers, the return of the professors and managers of the Balthasar Neumann Akademie “strengthens the collaborative ties of the German institution and the Office of the Historian of the City of Havana“, indicates the publication.

According to the news agency, this exchange, held for more than five years, “reaffirms the Cuban-German relationship and the intention to support and promote the academic and professional training of musicians.”

Led by renowned director Thomas Hengelbrock, the Balthasar Neumann Akademie as well as its two ensembles: Balthasar Neumann Choir & Ensemble, aim to cultivate and preserve Europe’s cultural legacy, recalls PL.
