GNB seized war material from the Mariño Train

Agents of the Bolivarian National Guard seized 50 7.62X51 caliber cartridges intended for rifles in the possession of the Tren de Mariño, one of the 14 criminal organizations that operate in the state of Sucre, according to military sources.

The procedure was carried out in the Marabal sector, Mariño municipality (Irapa), Sucre, where the soldiers had a confrontation with members of the aforementioned criminal organization who fled into a wooded area.

At the site, the military seized two 7.62X51 mm rifle magazines, fifty 7.62X51 mm caliber cartridges and a rifle grenade.

The Mariño Train is dedicated to collecting vaccine from the fishermen of the region. But in recent months it has ventured into drug trafficking, for which it requires heavy weapons in order to guard shipments of illicit substances from Colombia, according to investigations.

The Public Ministry was notified of the procedure.
