The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation presented this Tuesday (19) a novelty for researchers who work in biodiversity without economic ends. It is a simplified registry for research with national genetic heritage.
The idea is to bring more legal certainty to the academic sector and simplify the registration of research. The initiative meets the decree instituted in October last year that revised the procedure.
During the launch of the registration module, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Paulo Alvim, highlighted that the new system, responsible for storing the country’s genetic information, will have the contribution of users.
Sisgen, National System for the Management of Genetic Heritage and Associated Traditional Knowledge, is available for access through the CNPQ website. The address is: gov.br/cnpq.
Also on Tuesday, the ministry announced the results of the MCTI-FINEP SiBBr Biodiversity Award.
The awarded projects will be inserted into the information systems on biodiversity, the sbbr.gov.brwhich makes openly available more than 17 million occurrences about Brazilian species, as well as information on biomes and research projects for specialized studies, environmental management and access for the whole society.
