Santo Domingo.- The dams are in a position to continue increasing the reservoirs in the measures that follow the rainy in the coming days, as reported on Tuesday by the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources (Indhri).
This was announced by the agency’s executive director, Olmedo Caba Romano, after receiving the detailed report on the situation of the dams and the impacts of the rains on the irrigation systems and in high-risk areas due to their vulnerability.
It was reported that all the systems are operating without any mishap, the waters continue to drain normally, except for the Marcos A. Cabral channel, which is operated by the Ozama – Nizao Regional Directorate, which was closed in order to have a greater capacity to manage rainfall. .
On his side, the person in charge of Indhri Irrigation Systems, Luis Cuevas, indicated that the rainy received in the dams, from last Wednesday, April 13, and until this Monday, April 18, were not recorded in the upper river basins, so they did not represent relevant contributions to the dams.
Caba Romano specified that the institution works hand in hand with the Emergency Operations Center (COE) to deal with any incident that may arise in the country’s irrigation systems.
