Sister of former Foreign Minister Holguín died after being run over by truck

Carolina Holguin, sister of the former Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguín (2010-2018), died this Saturday after she was hit by a truck when she was riding a bicycle on a highway in the department of Boyacá, the Police reported.

There is a traffic accident in which a cyclist loses her life when colliding with a truck“reported the Boyacá Police Commander, Colonel Jorge Cabra.

The Police are investigating the causes of the accident “in order to establish the events that led to the loss of this life” and determine responsibilities.

The accident occurred in the road that connects the municipality of Villa de Leyva with that of Santa Sofía, in Boyacá, in the center of the country, and, according to the first versions, the woman was run over by a truck carrying food.

Carolina was one of the sisters of Maria Angela Holguín, who was Colombia’s ambassador to Venezuela between 2002 and 2004, sent by Álvaro Uribe, and then chancellor during the term of the former president Juan Manuel Santos.
