The Ministry of Health (Minsa), in its incidence report on COVID-19, shows a slight increase in positive cases of coronavirus in Nicaragua with one more infected patient compared to the number reported the previous week.
The health institution details that between April 12 and 19, 2022 there was 49 Nicaraguans infected by coronavirus and one deceased in seven days.
The Minsa maintains in its official figures an amount of 233 deceased since the beginning of the pandemic, reporting one death per week due to the virus since October 2020, a number that did not change even in the midst of the last and largest wave of the virus in the Central American country.

“People who have been under responsible and careful follow-up for COVID-19 have often had associated conditions such as: high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, obesity, heart disease, immunodeficiency syndrome, chronic kidney failure, a history of stroke, tuberculosis. lung and chronic lung diseases », details the Minsa report.
More than 65% of the Nicaraguan population over two years of age already has the complete schedule for the COVID-19 vaccine, while 90% have at least one dose, according to the Daniel Ortega administration.
The Government of Nicaragua has been characterized as one of the countries that has not applied measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, a decision that has generated criticism from the World Health Organization (WHO).
