According to statements by the head of the Ministry of Higher Education (MES), José Ramón Saborido, in the new course “a greater link will be promoted with the sector of the production of goods and services, the university-business relationship, attention to students of University Colleges, monitoring of graduates, and curricular and extracurricular actions to promote an innovative culture.
Among the priorities of the MONTH will also be “guaranteeing the completion of the studies of the largest number of students in the last year of careers and higher technicians until December 2022,” the report refers.
The university authorities will also monitor the curricular modifications approved in previous academic years, based on the epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 in the country and its impact on education. cuban educationpoints out the ACN.
It highlights the medium that will also work to implement actions of social impact from the universities, which include academic offer and access for young people in vulnerable situations and residents in penitentiary centers, as well as the training of social workers.
Among the novelties of this course is the creation of two variants of university colleges: the first, to increase income in deficit or special interest careers; and the other, aimed at students, at the end of 12th grade, being able to join and receive a preparatory course on content that contributes to their successful transition in the career, with emphasis on the first year, refers, for its part, the agency Latin Press (PL).
The MES specified that in this way, Cuban universities maintain the “fundamental challenges of strengthening the spirit of innovation, deepening the knowledge of basic sciences and establishing the correct placement of graduates in jobs according to their skills.”
The ministry has also indicated that in the academic period that has just begun, the universities will maintain “strict compliance” with the sanitary hygienic measures established by the Ministry of Public Health to face the pandemic, says the report of PL.
The school year for primary education begins, on atypical dates due to the pandemic
In the middle of last March, more than 1,700,000 students from some 10,000 primary schools began the 2021-2022 school year in person in Cuba, and a week earlier the students of basic secondary, pre-university , technical, professional and pedagogical training.
The reopening of the different educational centers was possible due to the almost general scope of vaccination against COVID-19, including the pediatric population, and the decrease in cases of the disease on the Island, a trend that has been maintained since then.
In Cuba, more than 95% of people between the ages of 2 and 18 have already received the full vaccination schedule, according to official data.
