Governments spent US$4 million on fuel in 2021

According to open data available on the website of the Ministry of Finance, the 17 governorates together spent the sum of US$4 million in 2021 on fuel alone.

Among them, the governments of Alto Paraná (Roberto González Vaesken, Chartist ANR), Caaguazú (Alejo Ríos Medina, PLRA) and Boquerón (Darío Medina, Chartist ANR) lead the list of entities that spent the most on fuel during the past year . (See infographic).

On the other hand, the governorates that allocated the least resources to the purchase of fuel were; Alto Paraguay (José Domingo Adorno, official ANR), Caazapá (Pedro “Pipo” Díaz Verón, Chartist ANR) and Guairá (Juan Carlos Vera, Chartist ANR).

The data related to the purchase of fuel during this year are not yet available on said portal.

DELETE QUOTS
On Monday morning, Liberal deputy José Rodríguez (bench “L”) presented a bill that prohibits the allocation of fuel quotas to authorities and officials of the three powers of the State. It covers public companies, as well as municipalities and governorates.

The initiative prohibits the allocation, discount, exemption and delivery of fuel to all public institutions. The project covers authorities and officials.

The legislator affirmed that the objective of the project is to save resources through rational and effective use.

FUEL VOUCHERS
On March 24, the Chamber of Deputies approved the bill that establishes subsidies to Petropar. Among the sources of financing, the elimination of fuel quotas for legislators was established.

This was going to represent a saving of just over G. 5,200 million (US$ 750 thousand). However, this project was repealed only two weeks later. The reason was the claim of the private fuel emblems of the illegal competition that represented the subsidies in favor of the state oil company.

With this, fuel vouchers will once again be delivered to each legislator. The only bench that spoke in this regard was that of “Honor Colorado”, who through Pedro Alliana, ratified that they also renounced their quotas. This bench is made up of 25 legislators.

Rodríguez’s initiative seeks in some way to resume the elimination of fuel costs and expand it so that they affect all government entities.
