During the day this Monday, the senator for the Atacama region, Yasna Provoste, summoned the government of the President of the Republic, Gabriel Boric, within the framework of the announcement made by the Executive on the freezing of regulated public transport rates.
Through her social networks, the former presidential candidate criticized the government’s decision, alluding to the fact that it will not be throughout the country, as had been announced.
“President Boric announced to freeze the public transport rate throughout Chile. Now the government tells us that it is only in cities with regulated public transport, leaving out regions such as Atacama and Coquimbo,” he criticized. “He thought the fine print was just Piñera’s bad practice,” he added.
The parliamentarian published a video with the announcement issued by the President to the press, where she states that “we are going to freeze public transport fares throughout the year 2022 throughout Chile.” In this sense, the government, on that same day of the announcement, specified that “resources will be injected into the subsidies of regulated, regional and rural public transport, in order to freeze the rates for all public, throughout the country. Buses in capitals regions with exclusion perimeters and operating conditions”.
Given this, Provoste indicated that “you cannot announce something other than what your government implements and the people listen to,”
“It is not just the ‘advertisement wedge’, it is the announcement of the President of the Republic speaking to the entire country. The sad thing will be to tell the people of Atacama, Coquimbo, Temuco, Talca, Curicó, Puerto Montt; among others, that The Chile Supports plan is not for them. That’s not the case,” he concluded.
