The opposition in the Chamber of Deputies turns off AMLO’s electricity reform

Meanwhile, the opposition bloc remained without fractures, and its 223 legislators voted against, plus one from the PVEM: 70 from the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), 113 votes from National Action (PAN), 14 from the Party of the Democratic Revolution ( PRD) -one is on leave- and 25 from Movimiento Ciudadano.

Thus, the opinion of the United Commissions of Constitutional and Energy Points, with a Draft Decree amending articles 4, 25, 27 and 28 of the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States, in matters of energy and access to electrical energy was totally discarded.

After the vote, the ordinary session ended and the next one was scheduled to take place on Monday, April 18 at 12:30 p.m., in its semi-presential modality.

To reach that vote, only one vote was surprising, that of Rocío Alexis Gamiño, from the PVEM, against the reform. The PRI kept its word and voted en bloc against it.

The opposition celebrated with the National Anthem and cheers, while Morena, who already foreshadowed the adverse vote, repudiated the vote against, shouting “Sold! Sold!”

Given that this Monday Morena and its allies in session will give express processing to the Mining Law, the deputy coordinator of the Morena deputies, Leonel Godoy, warned at the end: “Let it be clear: today we won the vote with 275 votes and that is how it will be recorded in the history of Mexico and we will see each other tomorrow in the discussion of the Mining Law on lithium, we will see each other there tomorrow. We don’t need them!”
