This Monday the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies will review two projects for the withdrawal of pension funds: one “universal” promoted by parliamentarians and another —alternative and more limited— that the Government seeks to implement. On the subject, the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Jeannette Jara, reinforced the position of the Executive and stated that they hope that the proposal promoted by Congress will be rejected.
“The government’s project is going to be voted on, which is a responsible alternative to the fifth withdrawal, and which seeks to take charge of an issue that is well present in the citizenry: how do we recognize that, effectively, families require support because there is indebtedness, there is anguish and overwhelm by that indebtedness. But on the other hand, how do we prevent this alternative withdrawal, with this sense of responsibility, from generating even more inflation as part of the process that we have been experiencing in recent months,” said Minister Jara in conversation with Channel 13.

The head of Labor and Social Welfare stated that “we would have wanted from the beginning that they had not withdrawn, but the issue is that, on the other hand, it is also the role of a Government to listen to people.”
“The Government listens not only to parliamentarians, but also to the people who are at home with this burden, and that is why this alternative is generated, but it is limited and seeks to be responsible in a context in which to have opened to a withdrawal in the other way, let’s say, universal, without any border, would precisely harm people who have fewer resources,” added the Secretary of State.
Jeannette Jara commented that she hopes that the ruling party squares around the Executive’s proposal. In this sense, he mentioned that they have been in permanent conversation, both with the parliamentarians of his coalition and with all the parliamentarians present in the Chamber of Deputies, “and the truth is that we hope that the initiative of the fifth broad, universal retreat as call, be rejected”.
According to the Secretary of State “we have to look at this from a medium and long-term perspective, it is not just a contingency, it is not just a minute, and for us to take charge of the transformations that we want to take charge of as a Government, it is necessary also a coalition that is programmatically adhered to the transformer project headed by the Government of President Gabriel Boric”.
“I would say that all the Approve Dignity parties, as well as democratic socialism, have developed dialogues that are very fruitful, that have their tensions, it is evident, but if we put at the center the reform that we have to implement in the pension system, we will not I have no doubt that we are going to have the wills. The issue of the fifth retreat cannot be analyzed as just something contingent,” Jeannette Jara remarked.
The Minister of Labor also announced that they could even work on new indications to improve their limited retirement project. He said that “it is possible” and pointed out that when this “responsible withdrawal” project is presented to the fifth withdrawal, some observations are also collected afterwards, for example, “one that is evident, that the authorities cannot make use of these withdrawals, that had to be incorporated because it makes sense”.
“And some adjustments are being seen, that some of the indications that the deputies have presented could be included,” Minister Jara closed.
