For today, Saturday, April 16, the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) reports that once again no deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, for a cumulative to date of 8,178 deaths and a lethality of 1.1%.
Since last Wednesday, April 13, no deaths have been recorded. This week one death was reported on Monday and another on Tuesday 11.
The report highlights that the districts of Bella Vista in the capital city, Rufina Alfaro in San Miguelito, Santiago de Veraguas and Puerto Caimito and Barrio Colón in La Chorrera, as well as in San Francisco, are the places that in the last 24 hours reported the highest number of positive cases throughout the country.
The groups with the highest number of deaths are between 60 and 79 years old with 3,766 deaths; those over 80 years of age with 2,354 deaths. They are followed by between 40 and 59 years with 1,644; between 20 and 39 with 366 and those under 20 with 48 deaths.
At the same time, 443,160,442 people have recovered in the world and 6,220,896 people have died from the virus, while in Panama there are 768,594 confirmed accumulated cases of Covid-19 and 124 new positive cases.
The number of recoveries amounted to 757,947 and in the last 24 hours and 2,478 tests were applied for a positivity of 5.0%.
Active cases total 2,469 while 2,388 people are in home isolation, divided into 2,371 at home and 17 in a hotel. Those hospitalized add up to 81, divided into 69 in the ward and 12 in the ICU.
The Ministry of Health reminds the population not to lower their guard and continue to apply biosafety measures, such as the use of the mask, alcohol gel, facial screen in public passenger transport, hand washing, physical distancing and the use of of alcohol.
