81-year-old woman died in an accident on the Interbalnearia route

This Sunday morning, a Nissan Frontier truck collided with a Peugeot 206 at km 91 of the Interbalnearia route, after the collision, the car fell off the shoulder and its driver, an 81-year-old woman, died on the spot. Both vehicles were traveling from east to west.

The truck was driven by a 59-year-old Argentine man who, according to the National Directorate of Highway Police, The Observerwas arrested at the scene and will appear in court this afternoon.

In the van, in addition to the driver, were two adolescents aged 16 and 17, who suffered minor injuries and were transferred to the Cantegril Sanatorium, in Punta del Este, it was reported.

In the car, along with the woman, was an 87-year-old companion, who was not injured.

At this time and until Monday, the Highway Police implements a control operation on several national routes before the return of tourists at the end of Holy Week. From the direction it was called to take precautions when driving, taking into account that in various parts of the country there are delays and traffic congestion.
