A hundred tractors move to Montero in protest against Law 1386

About a hundred tractors moved this Saturday to the city of Montero on behalf of a part of the producers from the north of Santa Cruz. Upon arrival, the protesters reiterated their questioning of Law 1386, which is the main reason for the civic strike that this Saturday marks six days in some regions of the country.

Those mobilized gave the Government a period of 72 hours to repeal this and other controversial regulations, which they consider to violate the rights of citizens. Otherwise, they warned by initiating a blockade on the Cochabamba – Santa Cruz route with their tractors, according to Unitel.

“Here are the bases of the landowners, here are the bases of the Santa Cruz production model, telling the Government that it is the people who want these laws to be annulled,” said Rómulo Calvo, leader of the Pro Santa Cruz Civic Committee, who was also present. present in the so-called “tractorazo”.

Since Monday, social sectors in various regions of the country have been promoting blockades, mainly in rejection of the regulations of the National Strategy to Fight Against the Legitimization of Illicit Profits and the Financing of Terrorism.

Meanwhile, opposition citizens and legislators demand the annulment of a package of regulations and the reinstatement of the requirement of 2/3 in the Senate and Deputies for legislative procedures.

During the tense days of the demonstration, clashes were reported between protesters and groups presumably related to the Movement for Socialism. The clashes left more than 80 injured, dozens arrested and one dead in Potosí.
